Child and Teen Counseling

Hello, I’m Skyler Kociuba! I’m passionate about supporting children, adolescents, and adults. I believe healing begins when we feel safe enough to be fully seen and understood.

Life often brings moments that feel too heavy to carry alone. Grief that lingers, anxiety that won’t quiet down, or the exhaustion of trying to keep everything together. My approach to therapy is grounded in empathy, authenticity, and collaboration.

I believe therapy is not about “fixing” you. It’s about helping you reconnect to your own capacity for healing and growth. If you’re ready to take that next step, I’m here to walk alongside you with compassion, curiosity, and care.

My Approach as a Therapist

I take a trauma-informed and person-centered approach, drawing from evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and parts work to help you better understand and manage emotions, improve coping skills, and strengthen relationships. I view therapy as a collaborative process — one that honors your pace, your story, and your goals.

Clients often describe me as warm, validating, honest, and steady, with a style that balances gentle support and meaningful challenge. Whether we’re processing painful experiences or developing new coping tools, I aim to create a space that feels both safe and empowering.

How I Can Help You

I’m a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) with extensive experience working in Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and group practice settings. This background has allowed me to support individuals through a wide range of challenges — from acute emotional distress and trauma to ongoing struggles with stress, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and relationship or family conflict.

I work with children, adolescents, and adults, helping each person build insight, stability, and confidence in their ability to navigate life’s ups and downs. Whether you’re facing trauma, burnout, loss, or uncertainty, our work together will focus on helping you reconnect with your own resilience and sense of self.

In summer, I love spending time at my family’s cabin, which has been in my family over 75 years, relaxing by the lake, reading on the dock, fishing, and soaking up the sun.
