From Hurt to healing:
A Support Group for Women Stepping Out of Toxic Relationships
In-Person Support Group in Deerfield, IL
Toxic relationships can leave deep and lasting scars—emotionally, mentally, and even physically. They can erode your self-esteem, shake your sense of safety, and affect how you relate to others long after the relationship ends.
That’s why walking away isn’t just hard—it can feel almost impossible. As time goes by, you may feel exhausted, unsure of yourself, or flooded with a mix of grief, anger, relief, and fear. You might feel disconnected from friends or family, or afraid they won’t understand. You may even carry shame that isn’t yours to carry. But one thing you’re definitely not is alone!
This group is a place for you to catch your breath, feel heard, and begin to heal—surrounded by other women who truly get it.

What Topics We’ll Explore Together
Each week will include guided discussions, practical resources, and space for both group and personal reflection.
Some of the topics we’ll cover include:
Understanding the dynamics of toxic and emotionally abusive relationships vs. healthy relationships.
Deciding when it’s time to leave or end the relationship—and how to let go, even if you still love them.
Reflecting on the root causes and patterns that can lead to toxic relationship dynamics.
Exploring why toxic relationships are so hard to get over—and whether they can be fixed.
Setting and maintaining clear, healthy boundaries, especially when your former partner won’t let go.
Rebuilding your life and reclaiming your identity, voice, and values.
Redefining what healthy relationships mean to you and what you want moving forward.
Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the cancellation policy?
Because this is a closed, 10-week group with limited spots, we ask for a thoughtful commitment when you register.
If you need to cancel after registering, please notify us in writing at least 7 days before the first group meeting to receive a full refund of your deposit, minus a $10 processing fee.
Cancellations made within 7 days of the first meeting are not eligible for a deposit refund.
Is this support group confidential?
Yes. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of our support group. All participants agree to respect and protect the privacy of what’s shared. This creates a safe, judgment-free space where everyone can speak openly, honestly, and without fear of their story leaving the room.
How will this group actually help me?
You’ll gain more than support—you’ll learn practical tools for healing, reconnect with your sense of self, and build meaningful and healthier relationships. While everyone’s journey is different, many participants leave the group feeling more empowered, less isolated, and clearer about their next steps.
What if I’m still in the relationship?
You’re absolutely welcome! Whether you’ve recently left or are considering leaving, this group offers a supportive space to explore your situation with care and without judgment. That said, because the focus is on healing from toxic relationships, this group may not be the right fit if you’re not planning on leaving.
We do a brief screening with each participant to make sure the group is the right support for where you are in your journey. We also strongly encourage individual therapy alongside the group, and we’re happy to connect you with a therapist who fits your needs.
How many people will be in the group?
To keep this space supportive and confidential, we limit the group to a maximum of 10 women. This allows for meaningful connection while still giving everyone space to share and reflect.
We ask that participants commit to attending at least 8 of the 10 group sessions. More than two absences can disrupt the sense of safety and consistency, so those unable to meet this commitment may be asked to step out of the group.
